I love the library for all of the versatility it provides in my life, but the time that I am most excited about what the library offers is when I'm traveling.
I feel almost giddy as I walk into an airport bookstore, scanning the prices of the hardcovers and magazines knowing that tucked neatly inside my carry on is a book checked out from the library. Up the thrill factor when I realize I've also downloaded an audiobook to my iPod through Overdrive. I have my information and entertainment needs met for the duration of my flight and layover and I haven't spent a penny.
Just how much am I saving? Thanks to the Library Value Calculator now located on the Sno-Isle homepage, I can find out. With one hardcover, two paperbacks and a downloaded audiobook, my savings from my recent trip total $77!
Talk about value. But value doesn't always have to relate to cost. I value the enrichment I find in the materials I check out from the library ranging from non-fiction books to movies to music CDs. I value the social interaction and the variety of programs I can enjoy in my free time. And I value all the ways the library helps, enriches and empowers others in my community.
What do you value most about your library?

What I value most about my library is staff who keep me thinking and wondering and exploring the many terrific things that my library provides for me.
ReplyDeleteMy whole family loves the library and uses it regularly. I am especially happy working for the library system and watching how many lives we touch everyday. Programming of all sorts, internet, books, book discussion groups, media, research opportunities, movies, cd's, the list goes on and on.
ReplyDeleteHere's to a fabulous library system! May everyone realize the value it offers, in immeasurable ways, to all people.
